Recruiters have big responsibilities towards candidates after interviewing them. Giving the right feedback to candidates is essential for the recruitment process. Since Iraq generally and Kurdistan specifically have different backgrounds of candidates, recruiters should be able to understand these aspects in detail.
1. Recruiters don’t know how to say it:
It is difficult to inform job seekers where they were lacking during the interview and selection process. Recruiters don’t want to be seen as a know-it-all, and they sure don’t want to be perceived as rude. Recruiters don’t want to have potentially difficult conversations for fear that they will be poorly received by job seekers.
It is the fear of the unknown that gives recruiters anxiety. For instance, What if the candidate wants extra details? What if the recruiter gets flustered and says the wrong thing? So much can happen, and recruiters don’t want to risk sabotaging the reputations.
2. They don’t have sufficient information they need to give feedback:
This can be a frequent occurrence for recruiters in all sectors in the region. The candidate passes all the steps in the recruitment process. Then, the HR manager decides not to move forward with them. The recruiter does his best to collect feedback from the HR manager about why the job seeker wasn’t the right fit.
It can be hard to convert that into meaningful feedback that a candidate or a job seeker can take with them in their pursuit of a new vacancy. It gets even more complicated when the hiring manager or interviewer states that a candidate just wasn’t a cultural fit. At that point, it can prove even harder to explain to a candidate exactly why the employer decided to move on without them.
3. Recruiters can’t find out how to turn the negative into the positive:
Transparency is the best strategy when giving feedback to a job seeker, but it is also essential to ensure and maintain the relationship with the job seekers remains intact for the future. If a candidate is lacking a specific hard skill requirement, the feedback doesn’t have to be completely negative. Converting what could be perceived as negative feedback into a positive is the best method to proceed here.
